These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern access to and use of Candit, an AI notetaker and interview scorecard product for recruiters, provided at candit.co and any related applications (the "Service") by Candit ("Candit," "we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account, connecting a meeting, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you're using the Service on behalf of an organization, you're agreeing on its behalf and confirming you have the authority to do so.
1. The Service
Candit joins meetings (via an automated participant, or "bot") to record, transcribe, and summarize them, and — where a recruiter links a session to a role in their Roles Directory — generates a structured scorecard, fit assessment, and related output derived from that transcript and the role's job description. The Service works as a general meeting notetaker even when no role is linked.
2. Accounts & eligibility
You must be at least 18 and able to form a binding contract to use the Service. You're responsible for the accuracy of your account information, for safeguarding your login credentials, and for all activity under your account. Workspace owners are responsible for the conduct of members they invite.
3. Recording, transcription & your responsibility to meeting participants
This is the most important section for how you use Candit responsibly.
When you invite the Candit bot to a meeting, it joins as a visible participant and — where the meeting platform supports it — announces itself as an AI notetaker. You are solely responsible for complying with all applicable recording, wiretapping, and consent laws in your jurisdiction and the jurisdiction of everyone on the call, including candidates who are not Candit users and never agreed to any Candit terms. Many jurisdictions (including several U.S. states) require the consent of all parties before a conversation may be recorded — not just one. Before using Candit in a meeting, you must obtain whatever consent is legally required from every participant, including verbally disclosing that the call is being recorded and transcribed by an AI tool where required.
Candit is not a party to your meetings and has no way to independently verify that consent was obtained. You agree to indemnify and hold Candit harmless from any claim arising from your failure to secure required consent (see Section 13, Indemnification).
4. Plans, billing & free usage
Paid plans are billed in advance on a recurring basis through our payment processor (Stripe). New individual and workspace accounts start on a Free plan with metered usage (including one free real-time session); usage limits and pricing for each plan are shown in the app and may change with notice. Fees are non-refundable except where required by law. You can cancel a subscription at any time from Settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Workspace plans include a base seat cap — adding members beyond that cap may increase your bill, and we'll always show the cost before it's charged, never bill a seat increase silently.
5. Fair usage policy
This applies to every plan, including any feature or limit described as "unlimited." Our plans are sized around the ordinary, individual usage of a working recruiter or a recruiting team — not for reselling capacity, running the Service on behalf of unrelated third parties, sharing a single account across an organization it wasn't purchased for, or automated/bulk use disconnected from real interviews and candidate conversations.
If an account's usage pattern falls well outside that — on any plan, whether or not it has a stated numeric limit — we may reach out to ask about it, and if it continues to look like abuse of the plan rather than ordinary use, we reserve the right to apply reasonable limits, downgrade, suspend, or terminate the account, with notice where practical. We size our infrastructure and support around real recruiting workflows, and this policy exists to keep that sustainable for everyone using the Service in good faith.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service to record a meeting without the consent required by law;
- Use the Service to discriminate against candidates on any legally protected basis, or as the sole, unreviewed basis for a hiring decision;
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or resell the Service or its output as a standalone product;
- Upload content you don't have the right to share, or that infringes another party's rights;
- Attempt to interfere with the Service's security or availability, or access another workspace's data without authorization.
7. Your content
You retain ownership of the job descriptions, notes, transcripts, and other content you or your workspace submit to or generate through the Service ("Customer Content"). You grant Candit a license to process Customer Content solely to provide, maintain, and improve the Service for you (including sending it to the AI providers described in our
Privacy Policy
). We do not sell Customer Content, and we do not use it to train third-party foundation models.
8. AI-generated output — use your judgment
Summaries, scorecards, fit scores, extracted facts, and drafted messages are generated by AI models and are provided to help you work faster — not as a substitute for your own review. They may be incomplete, miss context, or misinterpret what was said. Candit does not evaluate candidates on protected characteristics and any such output would be an error, not an intended feature; you're responsible for reviewing AI output before relying on it for any hiring decision, and for ensuring your use of it complies with applicable employment and anti-discrimination law.
9. Third-party services
The Service relies on third-party providers to function — including Recall.ai (meeting capture — SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA compliant), Google/OpenAI/Anthropic (AI processing, depending on configuration), Stripe (billing), Resend (email), and Google Calendar (optional calendar connection). Your use of the Service is also subject to those providers' availability; we're not liable for outages or changes on their end outside our control. If you connect Google Calendar, our access to and use of that data is further restricted by Google's Limited Use requirements — see our
Privacy Policy
.
10. Our intellectual property
The Service, its design, and underlying software are owned by Candit and protected by intellectual property law. These Terms don't grant you any rights to our trademarks, branding, or source code.
11. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or terminate access for a material breach of these Terms, including a violation of Section 6 (Acceptable use) or Section 5 (Fair usage policy), with notice where practical. On termination, we'll retain Customer Content only as described in our Privacy Policy's retention section, and delete it thereafter.
12. Disclaimers & limitation of liability
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Candit is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim arising from the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Candit harmless from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your Customer Content, or your failure to obtain legally required consent from meeting participants.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Candit is established, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles, except where local law requires otherwise.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change is material, we'll notify you by email or in-app before it takes effect. Continued use of the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
